LiP (2007-2012) is a research project comprising education, geography and sociology. We are based at the University of Oulu and funded mainly by the Academy of Finland as well as the Thule Institute of the University of Oulu.
Research within the project focuses on education, growing, and the leading of everyday lives in small villages of northern Finland. We embrace the viewpoint of the villagers to their lived everyday taking place in a specific context. Perceived wellbeing, human – environment relations, as well as critical takes on schooling are among the topics researched within the group. Methodological approaches in the group range from narrative inquiry to ethnography and everyday life literacies.
